Getting the flu shot
Community flu clinics are now finished for the year. You may still get a flu shot from...
- your health care provider or
- the Heath Unit's Wednesday Immunization Clinic (1:30-6:00 p.m.) at 999 Balmoral Street (corner of Balmoral Street and William Street). Clients at the Wednesday Immunization Clinic will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

Information about the H1N1 vaccine
- Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from the flu.
- Influenza vaccination (the flu shot) is free to everyone over 6 months of age, and is very effective at preventing the flu.
- This year, there are two viruses circulating throughout Canada: the seasonal flu virus and the H1N1 flu virus. There is a vaccine for each of these viruses. You can get the vaccines at our Flu Clinics.

The H1N1 vaccine and children
Children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years should receive two half-doses of adjuvanted pandemic H1N1 influenza vaccine, the second dose no sooner than 21 days after the first dose.
Children who are between 3 and 9 years of age with serious or significant chronic health conditions should receive a second half-dose of the pandemic H1N1 influenza vaccine, no sooner than 21 days after the first dose.
Healthy children between 3 and 9 years of age need only a single dose of the pandemic H1N1 influenza vaccine, and do not need to return for a second dose for now.
